Submitting Music

To help you better understand how to submit your
music for review, here are a few tips to get you started.

1. Research and Select the Right Music Services:

Before you start submitting your music, it’s crucial to identify the services that align with your musical style, target audience, and the area you are needing the most help with.

    2. Review The Service Submission Guidelines:

Once you’ve identified the service you desire, it’s crucial to carefully review their submission guidelines. Each service may have specific requirements for submitting music, such as preferred file formats, submission deadlines, and contact information. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in your submission being ignored or deleted.

    3. Create a Professional Press Kit:

A well-structured press kit is essential to have on hand when submitting to any music service. Your press kit should include:

    a. High-Quality Music: Ensure your tracks are professionally mixed and mastered.

    b. Artist Bio: Write a concise and engaging biography that highlights your musical journey and achievements.

    c. High-Resolution Photos: Include high-quality promotional photos and album artwork.

    d. Press Release: Craft a compelling press release that introduces your latest music release.

    e. Contact Information: Provide up-to-date contact information, including your email and social media profiles.

Note: If you are not good at putting together a press kit, there are contacts to mentors that can help you in creating one in the Management and Mentoring section.

    4. Craft a Personalized Elevator Style Pitch

When reaching out to music services for review, take the time to craft a personalized pitch. Mention why you think your music is a good fit for their service, and be genuine in your approach. Avoid sending generic messages, as they receive numerous submissions daily and appreciate artists who take the time to connect with them on a personal level.

    5. Use Professional Mail or Email Etiquette:

When sending in your submission, use a professional and concise subject line, such as “Music Submission: [Your Artist Name].” Keep your email brief, respectful, and free of spelling and grammar errors. Also, attach your press kit or provide download links as specified in their submission guidelines.

    6. Following Up:

After submitting your music, don’t hesitate to follow up with a brief email if you haven’t received a response within the specified timeframe. A polite and friendly follow-up email can remind the reviewers of your submission and demonstrate your commitment.

    7. Be Patient and Persistent:

Getting radio airplay, on a playlist, or to be featured on a music site can be competitive, and not all submissions will lead to coverage. Don’t be discouraged by rejection, and continue to submit your music to various services while refining your approach based on feedback and results.

    8. Remain Positive:

Remember to stay positive when rejected, acknowledge your feelings, but actively focus on learning from the experience, reminding yourself of your strengths, and using the rejection as an opportunity to improve and move forward towards new opportunities, rather than taking it personally.

    Keep Moving Forward!
